PREVIEW: Ade Gale Laurels 2022

This Sunday the Poole Comets are to welcome a strong line-up for a full afternoon of racing action at the Harbourside track for the annual Ade Gale Laurels.

The order of the day’s events starts with the Juniors at 12 Noon. Favourites include Noah Woodhouse and Charlie Parr, both from Kesgrave, JJ Wildman from Exeter and Leon Penketh from Southampton. From Poole, Josh Nottle, Ollie Saunders, Kenzie Bennett and Feroze Langoo are due to contest for the title. Both Kenzie Bennett and Feroze Langoo have recently returned from Fife, Scotland, for the Home Internationals, after being called up to ride for England’s junior squad.

The women’s event follows at 13.30. Riders tipped to take the Women’s title include Emily Burgess from Astley and Tyldesley, Lizzie Rigley-Porter from Sheffield. Ladies representing the Comets include Lexie Curtis, Natalie Goulden, Daisy Sherwood, Sandra Tamborska and Maddie Saunders. Using her home track knowledge, Maddie Saunders will look to defend the Women’s title that she won last year.

 

The final event of the day is set to take place at 15:30 which sees the Men’s title decided. Favourites for this event includes current holder Ben Mould who is also the 2019 Men’s ICSF World Champion, riding for Horspath. Josh Brooke and Adam Peck who line up for Great Blakenham. A short distance from Great Blakenham, Ben Clarke from Ipswich is another strong competitor who has also recently returned from Fife for the Home Internationals, representing England for the Men’s Event. Chris Timms and Paul Heard from Birmingham, have both looked strong so far this season, and will also fight hard for match honours. Timms also joined Clarke for the Home International event in Fife.

It is also confirmed that Dawid Bas is set to travel from Wroclaw in Poland to compete in the memorial event. Bas is a multi-capped Polish International that is no stranger to Poole. He has been an integral member of the Poole Squad during the British Cycling Elite League campaign and finished in third position in the 2019 ICSF  World Final in Lezno, Poland, to Mould of Horspath.  

For Poole Comets, due to line up in the Men’s event is Connor Tucker, Wil Bristowe, Aaron Smith and Matt Mildon.

The afternoons racing is to serve as a great test as action resumes at harbourside the following weekend for a double header of racing to decide the British Club Champions.

Entry and parking for the Ade Gale Laurels is free and there will be refreshments served in the clubhouse.
