INTRODUCTION

 

For anyone new to cycle speedway,  it is the cycle racing equivalent of motorised speedway featuring four riders racing over four laps from a standing start. The bikes are unique to the sport and have a single gear and no brakes. The age range of riders covers the complete spectrum with the youngest rider at Poole  currently just 6 years of age while the oldest  is well into his fifties!

 

The Poole Club competes in the country’s show case team event, the Premier League, as well as racing in the South-West League which includes a brand new Conference for riders under 18. British Championships are promoted throughout England, Scotland and Wales and cater for teams and individuals with age ranges from under-10 through to open and also veteran. In addition, there are European and World Championship meetings held regularly.

Poole is a well run family club which is always ready to extend a warm welcome to new riders. To help you enjoy your free trial, a  range of bikes is available for use by newcomers under the supervision of trained coaches.
