After home defeats at the hands of the Sussex club in each of the previous two seasons, Poole added some fire power to
their line-up with three A grade riders in Dan Pudney, Brad Hoppo and Adam Peck. With Rob Haywood, Matt Chappell and skipper
Ben Donohue as back-up, the home win was never in doubt although the Hollebon brothers Neil and Martyn kept the scores close
with 8 race race wins and 43 points between them as team manager Alan Boniface made no less than 7 tactical changes. After
two maximum race wins, the dream start by Poole was halted when Rob Haywood crashed heavily into the fence in his opener to
give the Lions a 6-3 in the re-start. Rob recovered well to win heat 6 then pulled off the race of the day with a vintage
display in heat 10 to head home Neil Hollebon and the lively Joe Plumstead.
Daniel Pudney put five immaculate rides together and his partnership with Ben Donohue was highly productive with two
7-3's and a 6-4. Adam Peck raced his first SWL match and reeled off five second places, two of them behind his team partner.
Matt Chappell and Adam Legge scored some useful points and helped give Poole that solid in-depth look that has sometimes been
lacking in this competition this season.
