Poole   99   Swindon    78

Thirteen race winners came from the home team as Poole skated home by a 21 point margin in this 11am start to avenge a 15 point reversal at the Oasis at the start of the season. It was quite like old times as Rob Haywood and opponant Vic Rudman rolled back the years with some classic races and two wins apiece. Poole captain Ben Donohue had a productive match dropping his only point to Danny Harper in heat 5 while Jack Spear made a promising first team debut. Poole always had the upper hand but Swindon kept the match alive with good use of tactical changes and use of inside gate positions.

Scorers - Ben Donohue 18+1, Rob Haywood 16, Dan Pudney 15+1, Jack Spear 15, Brad Hoppo 12+1, Matt Chappell 10+2, Jessie Lamb 8+2, Pete Young 5.

Division 2:   Poole 51 Swindon 27
Kev Lowman set a captain's example with a faultless 3 ride max - a feat matched by Luke Armes while it was good to see Adam Legge back in action and looking sharp. Alex McLeod made a promising start showing plenty of speed.
Scorers - Kev Lowman 11+1, Luke Armes 11+1, Rich Chappell 10+2, Alex McLeod 7, Adam Legge 6+2, Matthew Mildon 6.

Poole   93    Horspath    85

There were never more than 4 points between the sides throughout the match until the very last race which saw a dramatic last heat decider. With Dan Pudney showing his world champion's credentials with three fine race wins, Poole moved 4 ahead after 7 heats. Dan's heat 7 win was one of the races of the season. Sitting for a 3rd behind his partner for 2 laps, he set out after Mateusz Szymczak and made up fully half a straight to catch the Polish star on the last bend - a truely awesome feat. No sooner had the cheers died down than Steve Harris wiped out the lead with a 7-3 with Ryan Taylor to make it all square at the interval.

The Hammers came out the stronger after the break with two 6-4's but their lead was short-lived as Pudney teamed up with Martin Phillips for a 6-4 then Ryan Taylor incurred a costly tapes exclusion  allowing Poole to clinch a vital 6-3 with the scoreline 65-64. Things looked ominous for Poole in heat 15 as Mateus Szymczak judged his move to perfection as he sped past Brad Hoppo while Ryan Taylor held off Ben Donohue to restore a slender one point lead. Mark Everingham followed the example of Dan Pudney by heading home Marcin Skowronek for only the second time in the match in heat 16 and with Martin Phillips outpacing Lee White for third Poole were back in front, 80-79.

Heat 17 was a crucial one as Dan Pudney headed Szymczak but Richard Chappell was the hero with a vital 3rd place ahead of Martin Glover. With the Hammers now trailing by 3, Poole looked odds-on favourites but the last heat decider needed several re-starts as the pressure mounted. Eventually Steve Harris passed race leader Brad Hoppo but unfairly blocked him in the eyes of the referee leaving Matt Chappell to join Brad for a 7-2 and a match victory. This was probably the best SWL match at Baiter this season and both sides deserve credit.

Scorers:- Daniel Pudney 20, Mark Everingham 18, Brad Hoppo 13+2, Ben Donohue 13, Matt Chappell 10+1, Martin Phillips 8+1, Richard Chappell 7, Luke Armes 4.

Scorers; Kev Lowman 11, Brian Holt 6, Jake Williams 4, Alex McLeod 3, Jess Lamb 2, Matthew 2.
