The champions elect maintained their unbeaten record but Poole recovered from a poor start and came within 2 points of a last heat decider as they adapted to the tight little circuit. Chances of an upset were dented in the first 6 races as the Hammers scorched to 4 maximum heats and the two Poole heat advantages before the break were only gained when home riders were excluded.

Trailing 56-41 after 10 races, the fightback started in heat 11 when Dan and Brad showed the excellent Lukasz Jozwiak some Aussie style team riding to take maximum points with Adam Peck and Pete Young following up with a 6-3 over Mark Boaler after another tapes exclusion for Mateusz Szymczak. Dave Murphy was having an "vintage" day and won heat 15 in fine style ahead of Steve Harris while Brad  Hoppo deployed all his skills to hold on to third place.

A 6 - 3 in the penultimate race from Pete and Brad  brought the margin back to 6 points so a last heat decider was off the menu. However, that made no difference to Daniel Pudney who showed his World Champion credentials with an explosive gate from grid 4 to power round previously invincible Karol Szymanski for an outstanding race win. This was a good all round team performance for Poole with the two experienced reserves Dave Murphy and Andre Cross making a major contribution.
