Began racing in 2007 as a newcomer to "Clubnight" after hearing about the sport from a friend. Had such good fun that he kept racing and soon showed promise such that within 12 months he achieved a rostrum place in the 2008 British U.16 final with a bronze medal. He was a finalist again in 2009 and has also won a silver in the South-West final and a team gold with Poole in the British U.16 club championship. Sam is a regular first team rider in the S.West league and has also established himself in the Premier League squad where his improvement continues. He was also a member of the British touring team in the 2009 World championships in Australia. Sam has a preference for fast tracks and enjoys racing at Wednesfield as well as his home Harbourside circuit. He enjoys the social side of the sport and has made many friends. One of his best mates is Thomas Reed who he greatly admires as a rider - someone who really inspires the "young guns" in the Poole club. As for an ambition in the sport, Sam has set his sights on being World champion, no less!

Chris Shylock

Chris started racing at Poole in 1984 having heard about the sport from a schoolfriend. He raced for 10 years in which time he earned international caps for Scotland and British team winners medals with Poole in 1985 and 1988.
After being capped for Great Britain for the 1993 tour to Australia, Chris retired from racing and embarked on his career but returned to the saddle with Leicester after a 14 year gap. A move of home back to Poole in 2007 saw him return to action for his home town club and during that season he was runner up in the South West riders final. He went on to win a SWL Div 1 medal in 2008 and currently captains the team. He enjoys racing at Poole and Leicester for the same reason - fast and raceable circuits and good event promotion. Chris clocks up a very large mileage in the course of work so is not so keen on the travel commitment in cycle speedway but enjoys the buzz and anticipation in the build-up to matches. Of today's riders, he admires Gavin Wheeler for his great balance and technique on corners.
